Frequently asked questions

What is the daily rate for 2025?
Nursery and Toddlers $160 per/day
Early Learners and Prep $150 per/day

Daily rates shown are total, before application of government assistance (CCS).

Can I claim the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a Federal Government program to help families with the cost of early education and care. It was introduced in July 2018 and has made access easier and more affordable for Australian families, meaning more children benefit from the opportunities that early learning presents.

The CCS is means-tested and paid directly to providers, who then pass that fee reduction on to families. As a registered childcare provider, families enrolled with us are eligible for CCS benefits.

As of 10th December 2021, the annual cap for all families has been removed, giving more families choice about work and care. Families with more than 1 child aged 5 and under in care will get a higher subsidy for their second child and younger children.

Eligible higher rate children will receive a 30% higher subsidy, up to a maximum 95%.

Families will continue to receive their income tested CCS rate for all children. Children eligible for the higher rate will have the increase automatically included in their CCS percentage reported to services.

Is there an application fee for the ELC?

No. There is no application fee. However, once your application has been accepted an enrolment acceptance fee of $200 per child is payable to secure your enrolment.

Does my child need to be fully vaccinated to be enrolled at Pacific Hills ELC?

Yes. In NSW, early childhood education services are legally required to ensure all children are fully vaccinated as a condition of enrolment unless they have a medically authorised exemption or are on a recognised catch-up schedule.

What are the opening hours?

Pacific Hills ELC operates 50 weeks of the year with a 2-week closure over the Christmas and New Year period.

Our hours of operation are from 7:00am-6:00pm Monday – Friday, not including public holidays.

How does the Prep Program work?

Our Prep Program is specifically designed to support a smooth and confident transition into Kindergarten, providing children with the foundational skills they need in the year before they begin formal schooling. The Prep Program focuses on fostering a child’s natural curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills in an engaging and meaningful way in line with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

Prep students wear a dedicated Prep Uniform, available from Hannah’s Uniform Shop. This uniform is the same as the Junior School Sports Uniform at Pacific Hills Christian School, helping children become familiar and comfortable with wearing a school uniform from an early age.

What is the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)?

The Early Years Learning Framework is part of the Australian National Quality Framework for early childhood education and care, and describes the principles, practices and outcomes essential to your child’s learning from birth to five years of age, as well as their transition to school.

The framework has a strong emphasis on play-based learning, recognising the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development. There are five learning outcomes defined by the EYLF:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
  • Children are confident and involved learners
  • Children are effective communicators
What is the National Quality Framework (NQF)?

The National Quality Framework (NQF) is Australia’s system for regulating early childhood education and care. It provides a national approach to regulation, assessment and quality improvement. The NQF includes:

  • Laws and Regulations
  • Quality Standards
  • Approved Learning Frameworks
What is Play-Based Learning?

Play-based learning is a foundational approach to early childhood education that centres on child-led, open-ended play. Through guided exploration and discovery, children develop essential skills in a nurturing, engaging environment.

At its core, play-based learning encourages children to experiment, imagine, and interact with the world around them—building confidence, enhancing communication and physical skills, and laying the groundwork for academic concepts such as pre-literacy and pre-numeracy.

By nurturing creativity, curiosity, and resilience, play-based learning supports the whole child—preparing them not only for the transition to formal schooling but also for a lifelong love of learning.

What is the relationship between Pacific Hills ELC and Pacific Hills Christian School?

Pacific Hills ELC is an integral part of the Pacific Hills Christian Education community. While it operates as a separate early childhood service, the ELC shares the same Christian values, vision, and educational philosophy as Pacific Hills Christian School. The close connection between the two allows for a smooth transition into Kindergarten, with shared facilities, involvement in school events, and a strong sense of belonging within the broader school community.

If my child is enrolled at Pacific Hills ELC, will my child have automatic entry to Kindergarten at Pacific Hills Christian School?

Space permitting, children in the Prep Program will have priority to join Kindergarten at Pacific Hills Christian School. To begin the enrolment process for Kindergarten at Pacific Hills Christian School please email enrolments@pacifichills.nsw.edu.au or visit www.pacifichills.nsw.edu.au for more information.
